What is a reverse mortgage?
A reverse mortgage is still largely misunderstood but it shouldn’t be.
That’s because it is an incredibly powerful loan product to help certain retirees navigate the sometimes choppy waters of their retirement.
It should absolutely be considered by anyone who owns their own home but is finding disposable cash harder to come by.
A reverse mortgage essentially allows you to borrow against the value of your home for the rest of your life.
As long as you are at least 62 years of age, you can apply for this mortgage which instantly puts money back in your pocket while availing you the luxury of remaining in your home.
You can forever dismiss any notion that you will have to sell your beloved home just to facilitate your retirement.
Retirees can choose to be paid in several different ways including a line of credit, monthly installments, a lump sum or even a combination of all three.
As long as the terms of the loan are met, it does not require repayment until either the homeowner sells or the last surviving borrower passes away.
It’s a really clever way to maximize the value of your asset, allowing you the freedom of a comfortable, worry-free retirement.

About Knoxville, Tennessee
Formerly known as White’s Fort, Knoxville was renamed by Governor William Blount in honor of President Washington’s Secretary of War General Henry Knox.
It was the first capital of Tennessee and remained so until ceded by Murfreesboro in 1817.
Lying on the Tennessee River, it remains the state’s third largest city behind Nashville and Memphis and ahead of another two cities wrapped in music folklore, Chattanooga and Clarksville.
Knoxville needed the arrival of the railroad in 1855 and the end of the American Civil War a decade later to kickstart its economic boom as a wholesaling and manufacturing center.
It suffered enormous decline during the Great Depression with virtually zero population growth for three decades until the 1960s.
It hosted the World’s Fair in 1982 and the city was mentioned frequently in the 1994 cult classic Pulp Fiction, due largely to it being the birthplace of director Quentin Tarantino.
Sunsphere Tower, built for the fair, is Knoxville’s most iconic landmark, lying in World’s Fair Park.
The city is also home to the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame which opened in 1999.
